Yellowhammer

Description

The robust little yellowhammer has gone into decline in recent years but can still be found on lowland and mixed farmland throughout the UK. The male has a bright yellow head, yellow underparts, and a heavily streaked brown back. Its name is thought to be from the German word ammer meaning bunting.
